JOYOUS CHEMICALIZATION
Evidently Christ Jesus knew that his God-inspired teaching was for all time and for all men, for he said definitely (Matt. 24:35), "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away." At the same time he recognized and stated that the world thought was not at that time ready for and receptive to the full truths of God and His universally and ceaselessly operative law of health and harmony, of life and love, which he understood perfectly and demonstrated completely. And so the Master foretold the second appearing of the Christ in the following words, recorded by John, the beloved disciple (John 14:16, 26): "I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever.... But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you."
Thus, in fulfillment of Christ Jesus' prophecy, God revealed to Mary Baker Eddy the Science of Christianity, the full and final revelation of the Christ, Truth, which she gave to the world in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." In this remarkable book the Comforter does indeed teach us all things, and does bring to remembrance both the teaching and the practice of Christ Jesus. The Comforter, speaking in Science and Health, clearly elucidates Jesus' words and scientifically explains the healing works which characterized his ministry.
In this Christianly scientific textbook Mrs. Eddy, writing as a scribe under divine direction, explains the spiritual means and method employed by Christ Jesus in his ministry of bringing release to those who were in bondage to sin and sickness. This is done so adequately, and yet so simply, that those who humbly and honestly study Science and Health and accept and apply its spiritual teachings find liberation from sinful, enslaving, and debasing habits, as well as from sickness, all in accordance with the never-revoked promises of Christ Jesus.
