Signs of the Times
Frank Martin in a column in the Yorkshire Evening Post Leeds, England
St. Paul, who knew quite as much about life as you or I, and had in fact put up with a great deal of injustice, was certain that the only practical method of dealing with ill-treatment is to return good for evil.
He argues that God will see to it that justice is done: "Vengeance is mine: I will repay, saith the Lord" (Rom. 12:19). Also, he might have said mercy is the Lord's. Human justice, even with all the equipment of law courts and precedents, is only rough and ready at its very best.
