Operation averted by absent treatment

Twenty years ago I was in a condition which five doctors were unable to help, and it seemed advisable to consult a specialist. He said, "You are all nerves, and you should have an operation on the neck, but in your present condition an operation is not possible." He said that there was no help for me anywhere.

I had, however, heard of Christian Science and that there had been many healings through it, and I thought I would try it. From a friend I got a copy of The Christian Science Journal, in which there were many testimonies and the names of practitioners. Since there was no practitioner near by, I got in touch with one by mail, and she wrote me in reply that she would help me. I got "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy from the Christian Science Reading Room. Through reading this book, and with the absent treatment and encouraging letters of the practitioner, I was gradually but completely healed.

I am also grateful to Christian Science for the healing of rheumatism in both shoulders, of an injury to my nose, swollen feet and knees, and of a swelling in my side. I am very grateful for Christian Science. —(Mrs.) Catharina van Meerten-Aretz, The Hague, Netherlands.
