THE DIVINE WILL
God's will is the law of good, the divine volition which expresses the nature and pure intent of Spirit. It is through law, or the divine will, that Deity evolves, maintains, and controls the spiritual universe, including man in God's image. And because God's will is truth, and invariable in action, it is demonstrable as law in human experience. One can always appeal to it as the supreme mandate under which man lives and acts. Regardless of what the human situation may appear to be, if it fails to accord with the will of Love it can be corrected through the understanding that error has no Principle and no law, and consequently no actual existence. God is All, and His government is sovereign.
Christian Science is God's law. It demonstrates His gracious, tender will in the character and action of man—in the truthfulness, love, and understanding that individual man embodies as the expression of divine law. These spiritual energies are laws of God, and they comprise the individuality of man. Because they are as ever present as is their divine source, and inseparable from it, they can be brought to light at any moment. Mary Baker Eddy says in "No and Yes" (p. 11), "Man has perpetual individuality; and God's laws, and their intelligent and harmonious action, constitute his individuality in the Science of Soul."
When we realize that the simple qualities of integrity, purity, and intelligence, which we express, hint the presence of the infinite energies of Spirit, the divine laws that comprise our real individuality, then we begin to grasp the true nature of man's unity with God and to demonstrate it. We see that kindness and joy and all spiritually derived elements are ceaselessly acting in man and that they are infinite in quality. Thus we gain the control of God in our lives, for we demonstrate His will as the divine order of being rather than a personal supervision of human affairs. We know that our true individuality is never deprived of the laws, or constant spiritual forces, of Mind, for divine Love impels every right action.
