Signs of the Times

From an editorial in the Enterprise Wellington, Ohio

In the Christmas season when all peoples are mellowed by the radiant warmth that has reached human hearts since the miracle of nearly two thousand years ago, there arises this question to meditate upon: Why is it that the peace of the world can be so ominously threatened when individual men and women everywhere earnestly want peace?....

As a humble country editor—a very small voice in the affairs of the world—I admit I do not have the answer to this tragic riddle unless it be for all to carry the essential spirit of the Christmastide over into the affairs of everyday life, and men and nations learn to live among their neighbors according to the rule that it is more blessed to give than to receive.
