[Original testimony in German]
I became acquainted with Christian Science...
I became acquainted with Christian Science about thirty years ago. At that time I was subject to severe attacks of epilepsy. My parents were near despair, for medical theories had been of no avail and my condition was constantly growing more serious.
Then we called upon a Christian Science practitioner for help. I was healed in one treatment. From that time on, the question was persistently in my thought, What healed you? The answer I always received was that God, Love, had healed me. But with what I had learned in a Protestant church and at school still in thought, this answer did not mean anything to me until I realized that what I had formerly believed must be incorrect. I had believed that God both loves and punishes, and therefore that I had to suffer.
I immediately enrolled in the Christian Science Sunday School and began to study this religion earnestly. Out of gratitude I began to take part in the activities of the church and became a member of The Mother Church.
Gradually I began to understand that God is All-in-all, that He is my life, my strength, my power, my health. I learned to see that He gives me all I need and that it always appears at the right time. I learned to know Him as the only good there is, embracing with tender Father-Mother love all mankind. Eighteen years ago I was privileged to have class instruction, and since then I have seen how the teachings of Christian Science have brought about true success or healing in every case when rightly applied. Ever since my healing I have enjoyed good health and have not suffered a single relapse. Today I cannot even imagine what my life would be without Christian Science and its application.
For the many blessings I have received I should like humbly to express here my gratitude to God and to Mrs. Eddy. The daily study of the Bible and the Christian Science literature has made an entirely new man of me. I seem to be like one who has awakened from a bad dream. I have become a free, happy, and contented individual. My great gratitude is being expressed, however, in helping others. God never fails us.—Harry Vormelcher, Greiz, Thuringia. Germany.
