Christian Science came to me in a time of dire need. I was suffering from what was then called quick consumption. My father had passed on with this disease when I was six years old, and it was thought that I had inherited the disease and would not reach maturity. Throughout my childhood and until middle age, when the climax was reached, this disease was greatly feared. Many remedies were resorted to, and medical skill was exhausted. Travel and change of climate resulted in no permanent relief.

When I was in the last stages of the disease, and about all hope was given up, a friend who had recently begun the study of Christian Science lovingly recommended that I try this Science as a last resort. Although things looked humanly hopeless, I was willing to do so.

A practitioner was called upon for help, and the response was immediate and effective. His first statement, that God did not make me sick, was most encouraging. Then the assurance that Christian Science could heal me changed my whole outlook. My thought changed from that of death to the thought of life and getting well, and healing began at once.
