Christian Science was presented to me in the summer of 1912, when my fiance asked me to read Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I read it, but I was in very good health and did not study it seriously until some time later.

After the birth of our first son, whom the physician was unable to save, I was left in a serious condition. We then decided to call on a Christian Science practitioner for help. She came to see me at the hospital, and after her visit the physician was dismissed, I was removed to my home in an ambulance, and a Christian Science nurse came to care for me.

The doctor told my husband's mother that if I were allowed to put my foot to the floor it might mean instant death. He also said that I would always be lame. This report was given to the practitioner, who that very day called at my home and asked me to walk to a chair and sit there a few minutes. I did so; the fear of death was broken by the practitioner's understanding of Life, and I began to improve from that time. Six weeks later I was completely and permanently healed, and about a year later our second son was born harmoniously and painlessly with no other help than Christian Science.
