With grateful thanks I submit this testimony. For twenty-four years I have been studying and proving the truths revealed in the writings of Mrs. Eddy, and I can truly say that in a great measure "former things are passed away" (Rev. 21:4).

My first healing in Christian Science was of severe biliousness. I had suffered from this ailment since childhood, the condition always lasting one or two days when I tried to apply the truths I had been studying there was no apparent result, so I telephoned to a practitioner for treatment and was healed within about twenty minutes. This experience encouraged me to continue studying. The first instantaneous healing I experienced without the aid of a practitioner was also of severe biliousness, and it taught me that time is not a factor in Christian Science healing. I was invited by the family with whom I was living, who were not Christian Scientists, to join them for Christmas dinner. I was very ill all that morning, and when I took my place at the table I felt that I was losing consciousness. While a member of the family was saying grace I prayed to God, "father. I know I can be healed now just as easily as in half an hour, this evening, or tomorrow;" and the answer came with the emphasis on "now" (Mal 3:10), "Prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it." I was instantaneously healed and enjoyed a hearty dinner.

At one time I was healed of neuritis by knowing that "in him we live, and move, and have our being" (Acts 17:28), and although I had to have aid in dressing myself to go to business, I found myself free by the time I arrived at the office. I was also healed of a badly sprained ankle on board ship. Someone unknown to me called the ship's doctor, and when I regained consciousness my ankle was being bandaged. The doctor's verdict was that I should have to sit with my foot up for the rest of the fourteen-day voyage. As soon as he left me. Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy was brought to me, and I opened it to page 471 and read these words: "'Let God be true, but every [material] man a liar."' That night I was able to walk into the dining room, the next morning I took a swim in the pool, and in four days I resumed my place in the tennis tournaments. Although the ankle was badly discolored, I experienced no pain after the first half-hour. During a long train journey I was healed of food poisoning by constantly declaring the truth. On one occasion, while living in Canada, I was rendered unconscious by a fall on the ice, but with the aid of a practitioner I was able to proceed to business in about two hours.
