I Shall Keep My Joy
I shall
keep my joy as a gladsome bird
That nests in the heart of me;
At the red of dawn ere the lark is heard
It will sing in exuberant glee,
For joy is highest praise expressed—
The rhythm of Spirit made manifest.
I shall keep my joy for tasks ahead
With its spontaneity;
Like a soaring bird's, its wings will spread
To lift me strong and free.
For joy is the strength of accomplishment
And the fruit of Spirit made evident.
I shall keep my joy with its birdlike grace
That sings and soars in me.
In its radiant presence there is no place
For fear and anxiety,
For joy is the knowing that God is here—
The rejoicing in Spirit's atmosphere.
