Reading Room Notes

The Sentinel of May 29, 1943, carried an invitation to members of The Mother Church, and particularly librarians, to contribute, from time to time, helpful, healing experiences in our Reading Rooms. The invitation still stands, and contributions should be sent to the Journal and Sentinel Editorial Department. The following are excerpts from reports received from Reading Room librarians.

A young woman came to the Reading Room nearly every day for a week or more, and one afternoon she related the following experience.

She had come to the city to find work, but often when starting out to make inquiry felt impelled to visit the Reading Room instead. Through her prayerful meditation and study there she was healed of defective eyesight, which had required the use of double lenses. She said, "I did not find work, but found my healing, which is of far more value." There seemed to be no disappointment in not finding work here, and she was shortly returning to her previous employment. Much gratitude was expressed for Christian Science and the privilege of using the Reading Room, which, she said, had meant home to her.
