"Absolute certainty"

When one is engaged in an undertaking, it is encouraging and satisfying to be certain of its success. Assurance on the part of the one making the endeavor is always a large factor in right accomplishment.

The Christian Scientist has learned that this assurance comes to him in proportion to his faith in and understanding of Truth. Added inspiration and confidence are gained as he reads these words from the book of Proverbs (22:20, 21): "Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge, that I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth?"

In the designing and producing of any mechanical equipment, mathematical exactness plays a most important part. It is not difficult to see that a mistake in measurement or computation would necessarily cause a defect in the completed machine. While there may be uncertainties and some failures in the first efforts of an inventor or a designer to produce a satisfactory device, there can never be uncertainty regarding the mathematical principle and rule which must be utilized in the designing and manufacturing process. The architect or engineer has full assurance as to the capacity or strength of a structure when exact computations have been made and the construction work is done in accordance with the plans.
