Radical Reliance

As we increase our efforts that the day of peace may arrive as quickly as possible, we become increasingly conscious of the need to be absolutely sure that our effort is expended in the proper direction. On page vii of the Preface to "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy writes, "The time for thinkers has come." The student of the Science of Mind, being a thinker and doer, places radical reliance at all times upon this exact Science. It has been proved millions of times that all who turn wholeheartedly to God and place their reliance squarely and undividedly on divine Principle demonstrate the spiritual facts of this Principle.

Divine Principle destroys error. Truth, understood, affirmed and reaffirmed, maintained under all conditions, accomplishes healing and brings about harmonious solutions to our problems—more harmonious than mortal mind could ever devise. It is true that courage and determination are needed to cling steadfastly to the fact that God is the one and only governor, but this is absolutely necessary when we are faced with the aggressive forms of the belief in the potency of material laws, fear, anger, doubt, and apathy.

Jesus, the master Metaphysician, proved that he understood the necessity of radical reliance every time he healed. He knew matter to be the objective state of mortal mind; hence he knew the fallacy of expecting it to be either good or bad.
