The Ever-present Christ

When Jesus stood with others at his side
Where Lazarus was laid,
And while they sorrowed that his friend had died,
Jesus, the Master, prayed,
"Father, I thank thee," ever confident
Life's victory is sealed;
The truth was proved, the veil of death was rent,
Man's heritage revealed.

If now to mortal sight the shadows loom
Gigantic on the cloud,
With courage speak the word that lifts the gloom,
The word with power endowed.
Give thanks, regardless of the shadow play.
Rejoicing in Truth's power;
The healing Christ is with you here today
To light the present hour.
