For more than twenty years I have had continuous proof of God's loving care and I am very grateful to Him. Although I have been in deep waters many times, I have always been buoyed up and carried onward by the understanding of the comforting and profound teachings of Jesus, as revealed in Christian Science.

My first healing was of nervous prostration; the healing was almost instantaneous. I had reached a state of complete helplessness when, upon the insistence of a young boy who had been reared in Christian Science, my family called a practitioner. The practitioner staved with me all night, clearly knowing the truth as taught in Christian Science; the next morning I was free, and the healing was so complete that even the memory of my suffering was gone.

In Psalms 107:20 we read, "He sent his word, and healed them." I cherish also these words of our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, which appear in Science and Health on page 248: "Let unselfishness, goodness, mercy, justice, health, holiness, love—the kingdom of heaven—reign within us, and sin, disease, and death will diminish until they finally disappear."
