Letters to the Press from Christian Science Committees on Publication

Harrogate Advertiser

Alfred Johnson, Committee on Publication for Yorkshire, England Harrogate Advertiser

While the teaching of Christian Science on the fundamental issue of the status of Jesus is not in accord with the teaching of orthodox Christianity, yet I would assure your readers that it is in strict accord with Jesus' teaching about himself.

A vicar, writing in your recent issue, tries to justify the orthodox point of view by criticizing Christian Science, but the New Testament teems with references, the great majority of which are Jesus' own words, emphasizing the fact that Jesus is not God but the Son of God. On this point Jesus was definite and emphatic, for upon a correct recognition and appreciation of this truth the success or failure of his life's work depended. There are many references, all comprehensive and all of equal weight and finality on the point.
