Christian Science came into my life as a beacon light shining in the darkness of fear and discouragement resulting from ill-health and disappointment. It presented to me a concept of God that was entirely new, a God of love, a God at hand, a God that can be understood and demonstrated. It was explained to me that through Christian Science I could learn to know Him, and that such knowing would lead me out of my troubles. I determined to apply myself to the study of this Science and so gain some measure of the understanding which was to open a new world to me.

For five years I had suffered from eye trouble, so severe that it seemed almost impossible to carry on with my work as a teacher in the public schools. I had tried everything that material means had to offer, including several different pairs of glasses, electrical treatment, massage, and a minor operation on each eye. None of these brought relief. Three weeks after I appealed to a Christian Science practitioner for help I was beautifully healed and comforted. I shall never forget the peace and joy that were mine as the result of the visits I made to that practitioner, who started me on the path from sense to Soul over forty years ago.

I have experienced many other healings since then through Christian Science, healings of gallstones, nervous prostration, insomnia, and other discordant conditions too numerous to mention here.
