The world I want to see after the war—to use a phrase that is getting to be a bit shopworn— is pretty much like the world all intelligent people want to see and hope for. The difference, if at all, is largely one of emphasis. . . .

And try as we will we cannot impose "our way of life" upon our brothers and sisters either in Europe or in the Orient unless we are prepared to implement it by deeds that will make it more alluring, more attractive, and more practicable.
