Many are the healings, joys, and benefits that have come to us since Christian Science was first brought to our attention by dear friends, at a -time of great need. I had been a constant sufferer from stomach ulcers and gall bladder trouble for several years, and these conditions were further aggravated by a complete nervous breakdown during the winter of 1927-1928. Material remedies of many kinds were tried, but no help was obtained and my condition grew steadily worse. But, as in so many other cases, "man's extremity" was "God's opportunity." I was instantaneously and permanently healed on my first visit to a practitioner's home. That night I was able to enjoy a substantial meal, get a good night's sleep, and go to my office the next morning for a full day's work, none of which, only a few days before, I thought I should ever be able to do again. I shall never cease to be grateful for the release from the long-drawn-out bondage that had caused me so much suffering and expense.

My entire family at once started to attend Christian Science church services, and one of the things for which I am most grateful is the great benefit our two children received from their attendance in the Christian Science Sunday School. They are now married, and our son has served with the armed forces of our country, has had honorable discharge, and is doing defense work.

Soon after my first marvelous healing, all desire for tobacco left me, never to return. My wife and I became members of The Mother Church and one of its authorized branches, for which I am most grateful. Much joy has been experienced through serving the local branch church in various capacities. A clearer understanding, with "signs following," of the true concept of home, business, and family relationship has resulted from our daily study of the Bible and the writings of Mary Baker Eddy. I am indeed grateful to God for our faithful practitioners, those engaged in Camp Welfare Activities, our church services, and for Mrs. Eddy, who made it possible for the whole world to experience the benefits that have meant so much to me and mine.—Frank L. Hartwell, Ashtabula, Ohio.
