Christian Science has bestowed upon me innumerable blessings over a period of twenty-seven years. It seems fitting that I should express my gratitude to God for these blessings and bear witness to the healing power of Truth through the columns of our periodicals.

A copy of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, was presented to me in 1913 by a dear friend, who later became my mother-in-law. At first I read the textbook, and the occasional copies of The Christian Science Journal and Sentinel she sent me, merely to please her. But gradually I became interested in Science as a religion. At that time I was drifting away from the Protestant church of which I was a member, because it no longer satisfied my spiritual and mental needs.

My progress in the understanding of Christian Science was slow, because I was critical of Mrs. Eddy and skeptical of the healing power of this teaching. After a few months of desultory reading I manifested symptoms of tuberculosis. I was consumed with fear because a member of my family had passed on with this disease. We were then living in a small town in Alabama where there were no other Christian Scientists, but, with the encouragement of my husband, I decided to consult a practitioner in the nearest city. Aside from one interview with the practitioner, the work was done absently. In a few weeks I was freed from the intense fear and was able to utilize the truth in my own behalf. I subscribed for the Christian Science periodicals, began a systematic study of the Lesson-Sermon, and my complete healing followed.
