I should like to tell of a healing...

I should like to tell of a healing I had about four years ago of severe burns. I started to clean a cookstove with a cloth saturated with gasoline, unaware that the pilot to the stove was lighted. The cloth ignited, and my face and hands were severely burned. Making my way to a neighbor for help, I asked her if she would read or talk to me. She lovingly consented, but asked if she might call in a practitioner to work for me, to which request I agreed. After the practitioner arrived and took up the work, all pain ceased and I went to sleep. At no time after awaking did I suffer any more pain.

It was several weeks before I could use my hands. During this time new flesh and skin formed. I am grateful to say the healing was complete; not even a scar remains, and I can use both hands as before. All human laws regarding the necessity of dressing the wounds were annulled; at no time was any material aid applied. I am also deeply grateful for the consideration and kindness shown me at this time by all with whom I was associated.

Through this experience my thought was awakened more clearly to the healing power of Truth and a fuller realization of Mrs. Eddy's words (Science and Health, p. 473), "God is everywhere, and nothing apart from Him is present or has power." For God, who teaches us to live rich and useful lives when we turn to Him for this teaching, and who guides us into complete understanding of all that is good and beautiful, and for all these proofs of my Father's love and protecting care, I am most grateful.— (Mrs.) Vera H. Herren, Weslaco, Texas.
