What Jane Saw

[Of Special Interest to Children]

Jane tiptoed softly to the window of Dicky's room and looked out across the back yard. The lawn mower rested against the garage door and Scotty, the pup, was sniffing it. He went around it once, his short legs bouncing in the funny manner that always made Dicky laugh; then he stopped, his tail standing straight up and wagging slowly. He cocked his head to one side to look toward the house, and Jane almost laughed aloud to see him. He was asking so plainly where Dicky was and why he didn't come out to mow the lawn.

"You're right, Scotty," thought Jane. "It's a job that ought to be done."

"And Dicky has a right to do it, too!" It was almost as if a voice had spoken inside her and Jane felt a warm glow of happiness. Of course Dicky had a right to do it! Doing his share about the house and yard was his right as a child of God!
