The Joy of Easter
The joy and gratitude which shine in the hearts of Christians everywhere at Easter will increase and become an ever-present influence for good as the significance of Christ Jesus' resurrection is more fully apprehended. Jesus' exit from the sepulcher demonstrated for all mankind the spiritual fact of eternal life. He showed, by presenting his physical body the same as before the crucifixion, that what is believed to be death is but the supposititious absence of Life. But Life can never be absent, since God is Life and ever present.
The Master had furnished conclusive evidence of this fact throughout his three years' ministry; and he was Christianity's Way-shower. By precept and by practice, he showed the way out of sin, sickness, disaster, and death, and thus established a precedent for every true Christian.
The Christ, which Jesus manifested made possible his mighty works, and this Christ is as available and as efficacious now as it was then. His promise, "Verily, verily, I say unto you. He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also," is not limited to his time or to that of his immediate followers.
