My interest in Christian Science...

My interest in Christian Science was first awakened through the healing of my mother of a difficulty from which she had suffered greatly for ten years. At that time she was preparing for an operation, which she had been told was her only hope. She received immediate relief in the first Christian Science treatment, and in seven treatments was completely healed.

Later I was healed of tuberculosis, although previously I had given up school and tried hygienic methods and X-ray treatments. I began reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Soon I was convinced that this Science was what I needed and wanted. I went to a practitioner, and in about two weeks all evidence of the disease had disappeared.

My childhood had been largely occupied with serious sickness, especially fevers, of which I had experienced four varieties. A while after taking up the study of Christian Science I became ill with walking typhoid. For a time I tried to help myself, but I finally lapsed into unconsciousness for nearly twenty-four hours. A practitioner was called, and in a few days I was greatly improved. In a week I was well, and there were no aftereffects. This seemed remarkable, because some years earlier I had had typhoid fever, and, under materia medica, I was confined to bed for a period of seven weeks, which was followed by a slow convalescence.
