The Psalmist said, "Give unto...

The Psalmist said, "Give unto the Lord, ... give unto the Lord glory and strength. Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness." Through the earnest study and application of Christian Science I am learning how to do this; I have found that it means the giving up of a false sense of self, and by doing so one naturally lives a fuller life, reflecting more spiritual qualities, such as joy, peace, health, trustworthiness, and usefulness.

By giving up even a degree of a false sense of self I have been able to accomplish things which before seemed impossible. One thing for which I am most grateful is to be able to rise and speak in public. Before learning that "with God all things are possible" I became sickened with fear at the very thought of rising and speaking in public. Now I can do so with ease and grace, when there is need.

This liberation was brought about through a great desire to give a testimony at our Wednesday evening meetings. I had been so greatly benefited by others' sharing unselfishly their experiences that I finally desired more than anything else to share mine. Gradually, as my blessings multiplied, my gratitude multiplied and became so great that it finally mastered the fear, and I was able to rise one evening and relate a beautiful experience regarding supply and divine guidance. Although I felt some fear when I began to speak, there was not a trace of it in my voice, and the words poured forth. The need for that testimony was evidently great, for when the service was over many thanked me in grateful words, one even with tears of joy; but I was the one who was most blessed, for my joy was almost overwhelming.
