Extracts from Reports of Christian Science Committees on Publication

Georgetown, British Guiana

In an issue of The Daily Chronicle newspaper there was an article entitled "Mrs. Roosevelt sends Message to the Women of British Guiana" in which reference was made to the "Guianese Students of Unity School of Christian Science."

Your Committee promptly called on the manager of the newspaper, taking a letter of correction, and was cordially received. The visit was an opportunity to explain in a brief way some of the work of this Committee, and our reason for wanting the correction made. Although willing to comply with the request, the manager thought the matter would lead to a controversy, so advised waiting to see if it would appear again. A few days later in the same paper the Unity School was mentioned but the words "Christian Science" were omitted.
