With a very grateful heart I...
With a very grateful heart I wish to tell of my wonderful healing.
For many years I have enjoyed the great gift of Christian Science, and have experienced innumerable healings of a greater or lesser character and demonstrations of its power to solve many problems in home and financial affairs. Also to it I owe the protection of husband and sons throughout the last great war.
Even after all this, rather late in life, I came up against a problem that seemed, incredibly, unsolvable. For about five years after a very minor car accident, I grew steadily less and less able to walk and suffered much pain. I had help in Christian Science, which for a time eased the pain a little. For the loving work of a practitioner at this time and for great kindness shown to me in one of our Christian Science Houses I am very grateful, but somehow the mesmerism was not broken and I continued to lose flesh, and could only hobble about painfully with sticks. Even lying in bed became almost agony.
I do not wish to dwell on this except to emphasize the wonder of the healing. To please certain members of my family an X ray was taken, which revealed a so-called incurable condition of the spine. Only one who has been reduced to such a seemingly hopeless condition can have any idea of the joy of the sense of resurrection, the freedom and spiritual uplift which came with the healing that followed shortly afterwards through the work of a Christian Science practitioner. As a result of this helpful mental work, many faults of character were uncovered and destroyed.
I am convinced that there is nothing incurable when Christian Science is rightly and faithfully applied by those who live as near the Christ as the patient, loving practitioners who were the means of bringing the light of Life into the dark valley of the shadow in which I seemed to be dwelling. My gratitude to these, and to Mrs. Eddy for the wonderful purity of her life which enabled her to give us the "pearl of great price," Christian Science, is too deep for mere words to express.—(Mrs.) Edith de Chair, Esher, Surrey, England.
