Rejoice, Ye Heavens, and Ye Inhabiters of the Earth

[Of Special Interest to Children]

Constance was suffering acutely from a difficulty persistent from childhood. Christian Science had relieved her of other difficulties, but not from this stifling catarrh. So on a long drive home she humbly prayed, "O God, show me what I need to know." A great calm came with the answer. "Rejoice evermore"!

Constance noted first the headlights. "Why. I never thought of the man who invented headlights," she thought, "so helpful to night travelers; and I thank you, Mr. Inventor, for your open-mindedness to such an illuminating idea! The idea came from intelligence, and you were alert enough to receive it! And I thank all the men who had a part in shaping and fitting these lights so snugly in place. Thank you, every one!"

The white fences and signposts challenged attention next. "Oh, I never thanked the trees for their years of patient growth to furnish timber; or the lumbermen who cut, trimmed, and shaped the logs into these guideposts; and the county officials who executed the plans! How many people there are to thank for expressing so many useful ideas!"
