Literature Activities of The Mother Church

Are you a crusader in this greatest of all causes—Christian Science? If you and I, professedly followers of our intrepid Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, are not crusaders, why aren't we? Whether you are a local member of The Mother Church, or a worker in a branch church, the establishment by The Christian Science Board of Directors of this, the newest department of The Mother Church, the Literature Activities Department, may give a few hints as to potential crusading activities.

This department is composed of Literature Distribution, The Christian Science Monitor Advertising Information Committee, Circulation Committee, and the Reading Rooms of The Mother Church. Thus The Mother Church has brought into one department all her local literature activities, that they may be co-ordinated, each group of workers actively supplementing the work of the others.

It is significant that "active" is defined by Webster as "given to works rather than to contemplation," and the synonyms are "quick, vigorous, alert, ready, prompt." Webster defines "activity" as "a creative agency or process," and attributes to C. Lloyd Morgan: "This, for me, leads upward toward God, as directive activity."
