Defense Work

Every loyal Christian Scientist has a sincere desire to help in the war between good and evil. He prays daily that he may be in his right place, doing that which will best serve God. His prayer is answered in finding himself serving his fellow man, his country, and the world. His demonstration may lead him into varied occupations, but no matter what needs to be done with the hands, in order to render maximum service to his country thought must be in line with divine Principle, God.

The real work of the Christian Scientist is to express God. All other work is secondary. As thought becomes more imbued with perfection, his other occupations, whatever they may be, will be carried on more expertly. The quality of thought determines the quality of human endeavor of every kind.

Part of her work was taken under an instructor who seemed harsh and severe. One morning, while inspecting her work, he made an unkind remark, quite uncalled for by the occasion. Without replying, the student returned to her work bench. She prayed to be able to think rightly about the incident, knowing that thought alone governs one's experiences.
