Over twenty years ago I began the study of Christian Science, and in that time I have received so many blessings that I am gratefully taking this means of acknowledging something of what God does for those who understandingly accept Him as the divine Principle governing their entire being.

I think I experienced man's extremity when, the third day after I had had a harrowing experience in a hospital, the attending surgeon informed me that the operation which had been performed was not a success and would have to be repeated. I then had such faith in the doctor's word that I felt it was fatal not to obey, but I also had such a horror of another operation that the ensuing hours were black indeed.

Then followed an unforgettable experience. Quite suddenly there came over me a great and comforting sense of peace and quiet—something of that "peace ...which passeth all understanding." After a short time I arose without saying a word to anyone, dressed, and went home. Then I sent for a Christian Science friend, who came to me at once. She told me she was not a regular practitioner, but her words to me and her loving thoughts were such that when the doctor came the next day he informed me that conditions were so improved another operation would not be necessary.
