Holding a Goodly Conversation
ALL things and conditions have their inception in thought. And what is more inevitable than for thought to find expression in words, sometimes audible, more generally inaudible? The process cannot be stayed for an instant, whether one is awake or asleep; but it can be given intelligent direction. The creative process of thinking and talking, productive of good or of ill according to its course and quality, largely determines the character, the health, the happiness, and the destiny of the individual. Cassius is quite right when he observes:
The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars,
But in ourselves, that we are underlings.
