Worthiness

Before men can fully express worthiness, they must be aware of their worth. They must understand of what their worthiness consists. What, in fact, are they worth, before all to God, then to themselves and to humanity?

In Christian Science, the individual learns that his worthiness is in proportion to his true apprehension and therefore manifestation of himself as an idea of Mind. He learns that the worth of man, the likeness of his Maker, is not measurable. He learns also that human worthiness, unless based upon divine foundations, fails in both vision and accomplishment.

The tendency of personal goodness is either to exaggerate or to belittle its virtues, its responsibilities, and its efforts. The human judgment of what is worthy is unreliable in its limitations and prejudices. Only he who perceives and acts in accordance with Principle knows how to detect and discard, as unworthy, the motives and influences which spring from selfishness and deceit.
