Extracts from Reports of Christian Science Committees on Publication

Northamptonshire, England

As in the previous year, The Christian Science Monitor has been delivered to the Roadmenders Club for Boys and Girls, fifteen to eighteen years of age, and the Y.M.C.A. Hostel. From the latter a very encouraging letter has been received from the matron. I will quote a section from it: "It is now some time since you were good enough to begin leaving copies of The Christian Science Monitor at this Hostel, and I feel I must write and let you know how much the paper is appreciated by the resident visitors and myself. We welcome it as providing interesting reading on a wide variety of subjects, and because there is something for every taste. The reason for which I myself welcome its presence is its spiritual message of cheer and encouragement, which I find so often arrives just when one is in need of some such message. It is my great hope also that, in these days when so many live, or exist only, ignorant of their oneness with their Maker, and consequently laboring needlessly under a burden of worry, insecurity, and often unhappiness, that the Monitor may reach its readers and bring home to them the wonderful knowledge and truth of the union with the one source and of the inner guidance it brings, leading to peace and happiness. I send my thanks to all who are responsible for sending it out."

This matron did not profess to be a Christian Scientist, so the letter is very interesting and greatly appreciated.
