Our Father-Mother, God

[Written Especially for Children]

Ann listened for a moment outside John's door. Yes, he was crying. Mother and father had never been away before for any length of time, and little John missed them very much. Since it was to be some time before they would be home again, Ann felt she would like to give her little brother some comfort and help that would dispel his distress and loneliness. Humbly she asked God, divine Love, to show her the way. Ann was a faithful student in the Christian Science Sunday School and knew where to turn when she needed help.

On page 9 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, tells us that "consistent prayer is the desire to do right." And on page 1 of the same book we read, "Desire is prayer; and no loss can occur from trusting God with our desires, that they may be moulded and exalted before they take form in words and in deeds." Ann was familiar with these statements, and she fully expected that Love would bless her right desire and show her just what to do.

Softly she opened the door, and going to the bed, put her arms tenderly around the little boy.
