"The everlasting Father"

In the ninth chapter of Isaiah is recorded the prophet's vision concerning the appearing to human consciousness of the Son of God, whose oneness with the Father entitled him to be called "Wonderful" and to manifest and illustrate the name (that is, the nature) of "The mighty God, The everlasting Father."

Christ Jesus fulfilled this prophecy perfectly. He understood and demonstrated his spiritual nature, sonship, identity, and oneness with the Father so completely that he was able to declare (John 14:9), "He that hath seen me hath seen the Father."

In all that the Bible tells us of Jesus' ceaseless efforts to help men to understand true sonship and the nature of the everlasting Father, ever-present divine Love, perhaps one of the most tender and touching instances is to be found in the parable of the prodigal son.
