I give this testimony of the protection of divine Love with a deep sense of gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me.

During the violent air raids on London about a year ago, a very heavy high explosive bomb burst about twenty feet from where we lay. At the same moment that I was aware of the crashing sounds around me, I distinctly heard a voice, as clearly as if spoken aloud, saying, "You are in the presence of God." And my reply came, "Then all is Spirit and spiritual." My consciousness was filled with the presence and power of Spirit, so that I had a feeling of being lifted out of it all, rather than a sense of things falling around.

The blast was such that the front and back windows of the house were impacted in the center, the doors and also their framework wrenched from the walls and hurled across the passages and rooms. All the ceilings came down, except over the spot where we were lying. It seemed impossible that in such wreckage no one was touched. Outsiders marveled that no one was hurt or cut by the flying glass, jagged pieces of which were embedded in the walls. There were ten people in the house and not one received even a scratch.
