Christian Science has taught me...
Christian Science has taught me of God, "who healeth all thy diseases; who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's." All these things have been proved in my experience. I am again giving testimony to the healing ministry of Christian Science. My first testimony was given in the Christian Science Sentinel in 1929, and since then there has been added progress. It is now over seventeen years since I was healed of heart trouble of over thirty years' standing; of asthma, from which I had suffered since I was a small child; of chronic stomach trouble, which made food seem my worst enemy; and also of lifelong constipation. Many kinds of medicine had been taken for the last-mentioned condition, and none of them had helped me. I was thoroughly convinced that I had been fair with materia medica all these years, and that the doctors had done their best, but that if I were to be healed it would be by God, and in His way.
Before taking in my hand that precious book "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I emptied out all my medicine on a Saturday night, and on the following day attended the Christian Science church service. I bought the Bible, Science and Health, and a Christian Science Quarterly, and began to study and practice what I had read. Some days I read fourteen or fifteen hours. Then I began regular attendance at the Wednesday evening meeting, the noonday meeting, and two services on Sundays. I attended every lecture that could possibly be reached, traveling sometimes many miles to hear a lecture or to attend a Sunday evening service. My desire was to get well, and everything in my power was done to bring about a harmonious solution. Within a year came healing of all the ills from which I had been suffering for over forty-five years.
