Does Christian Science heal infantile...

Does Christian Science heal infantile paralysis and its aftereffects? Yes, indeed it does! My mother and I know this, for it was only after she had been kept under the influence of morphine for ten consecutive days in 1909, during the epidemic of that disease in the Middle West, that we turned to Christian Science for help. Our dear old family physician had called me aside to prepare me for the worst. I told him that if medicine could not do anything more for my mother, I was going to try Christian Science. He said: "Well, go ahead. It can't do any harm; it might do some good."

I had to go to a neighbor's to telephone to Lincoln, fifty miles from our home in Fremont, Nebraska. The first practitioner I called was not at home. The second, whose name was chosen from The Christian Science Journal, was a stranger to us. He asked if my mother were willing to be treated by Christian Science. I said that at times she had seemed easier when I read to her from the textbook, and I told him of the doctor's reply to me. He agreed to take up the work at once.

Within twenty minutes the paroxysms of pain ceased. My mother then slept normally and awakened more like herself, the pain all gone. Several weeks later she had so far recovered that she accompanied me to Lincoln, where she could go to the practitioner's office for present treatments and I could resume my university work. That Christian Science "might do some good," was quickly proved, and that it is of incalculable value has been evidenced in the health, strength, and complete muscular freedom and control that my mother has experienced during the thirty years that have elapsed since that time. We rejoice increasingly that in our great need we turned to Christian Science. And we are grateful for many more proofs of the healing and protecting power of the truth which makes free, so clearly revealed to us in the textbook of Christian Science, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.
