"A scientific, right thought"

In her book "Rudimental Divine Science" the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, has made this striking statement (p. 9): "The spiritual power of a scientific, right thought, without a direct effort, an audible or even a mental argument, has oftentimes healed inveterate diseases." This statement has been proved by many students of Christian Science; and to those who, in some measure, understand the power of spiritual law there is nothing surprising in such experiences.

The implications of this simple sentence are obviously tremendous, for they indicate positive control over conditions which have been considered incurable. Thus it is that large numbers of people have turned to Christian Science for relief from the multifarious forms of trouble in which humanity finds itself, and have not been disappointed.

The Master said, "The kingdom of God is within you." In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 590), Mrs. Eddy defines "kingdom of heaven" in these words: "The reign of harmony in divine Science; the realm of unerring, eternal, and omnipotent Mind; the atmosphere of Spirit, where Soul is supreme." It is thus clearly seen that this is the state of consciousness for which humanity yearns with unutterable longing.
