We have received so much good since taking up the study...
We have received so much good since taking up the study of Christian Science that I want to add my testimony to the long list of those who have Christian Science to thank for their healing. Before I knew about this Science I often wondered why people could not be healed today as they were in Jesus' time, and I also wondered why we had to suffer for others' sins. I am grateful that the study of Christian Science has cleared all this up for me.
Four years ago I was working in a tailor's shop. My husband was out of work, and we had a boy of our own, three years old, and were taking care of a little niece, eighteen months old, whose mother had passed on. My right eye became sore and badly inflamed, and after a week of torture I was sent to have my eyes tested for glasses. The eye, however, was found too sore for a test, so I was advised to come back in three days. My eye was worse when I went back, so I was sent to an eye specialist. Each time I went for treatment he walked the floor and said that it was the worst case of iritis he had ever seen in all the years of his practice. I took his treatments for three weeks. I was told to quit work and get all the rest I could in a darkened room. Besides this, I took each day four kinds of medicine.
Since I was now unable to work, our money soon gave out, and I had only a little of the medicine left; but "man's extremity is God's opportunity." I was full of fear, for I had no encouragement from the doctor. It was at this time, when things looked darkest, that a relative asked me to have Christian Science treatment, although she knew little more than I did about it. I finally told her that if she would call a practitioner I would go and have treatment.
