In deep gratitude I should like to tell of some of the blessings that have come to me through the study and application of Christian Science. I did not take up the study for physical healing, for I was always well and strong.

When I was a child my mother was instantaneously healed by Christian Science of tuberculosis in the last stages, after she had been given up by three of the best physicians in the community in which she was living. She arose from her bed, dressed, went to the garden and gathered vegetables, prepared, cooked, and ate heartily of them, with no bad effects. At the same time the false law of heredity was completely wiped out, for not one in the family has had a symptom of this disease since; while before this time a number of her immediate family had passed on with this complaint. A short account of this healing appeared in the Sentinel of July 22, 1905.

The full significance of the healing was not realized by me for many years after that. I shall never forget the grandeur and divine naturalness of this experience, or cease to be grateful for it. My mother was a mere skeleton of her former self, but she regained her normal weight naturally and quickly, and to my knowledge never spent a whole day in bed on account of illness after that.
