Sunday School Notes and Comments

In our teaching in connection with the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly we endeavor to emphasize the spiritual import of the Word and its application in the pupil's life, analyzing the Bible verses and selections from "Science "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, to bring out their spiritual significance.

We have studied the lives of Christ Jesus, St. Paul, and others, gaining inspiration from their recorded experiences, and stressing the fact that the teachings of our Master are to be practiced in daily living. We have followed the journeyings of the children of Israel in the wilderness, noting their demonstrations of God's guidance, protection, and sustaining power, and have pointed out that Christian Science is a demonstrable religion.

Teaching in the Sunday school is a consecrated work, and its blessings are manifold. May we, as teachers, direct the pupils to "the path of the which "is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day"! It is spiritual light that leads to an understanding of Christian Science. Mrs. Eddy says (Science and Health, p. 10), "Spiritual attainments open the door to a higher understanding of the divine Life."
