During the past sixteen years I have been benefited physically and mentally, and I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude for the understanding I have gained through the study of the Bible, in connection with the writings of our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy.

For eighteen months after the birth of our first child, I suffered because of internal displacement. The family physician said that nothing but an operation would help. My fear of operations was great, and I turned to osteopathy and electric treatments, but I grew worse. In desperation I had about decided to resort to the operation recommended, when a friend gave me some Christian Science literature to read. In it I saw so many references to Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy that I resolved to read the book, and obtained a copy. I thought it most uninteresting at first, but decided to spend one hour each day reading it. By the time I had finished reading the book I was free from suffering, and then I started in earnest to study daily the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly.

I had also been suffering from a succession of boils. A throat specialist had said they were caused by my tonsils, which should be removed in order to effect a cure. After I began the study of the Lesson-Sermons one boil appeared, and a Christian Science practitioner was asked for help. The other boils had left ugly scars, but this one healed quickly without leaving a scar, and the tonsil condition was permanently healed.
