Christian Science came into my experience, in direct answer to prayer, more than thirty years ago. I was sick and in trouble, and sadly in need of help. I realized that God alone could help me, but I did not know how to reach Him, how to pray aright. I spent many months seeking God, and praying according to my highest understanding. Finally, Christian Science was presented to me and I was healed. First there was a very quick healing of an acute attack of grippe. This made such an impression on me that I commenced to read Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. Then, as I learned more of God and man, I experienced many healings. A great sense of fear and bondage left me, and the Bible became a loved and read book.

In these years Christian Science has never failed me. About a year ago I experienced a remarkable healing. While in New York City on business, I was stricken with what is called uremic poisoning. The room I occupied was in a home where nothing was known of Christian Science. I was a stranger in the city, and my children were many miles away. Early one morning I was seized with severe pain. I managed to get to the telephone and call a practitioner whom I had met in the Christian Science Reading Room. After a severe chill, followed by a fever, I lay in a stupor until late in the afternoon, and then I was moved into a home of Scientists. That night I had two more chills. After that I became unconscious. My children and a practitioner in Chicago were notified, and faithful and loving help was given throughout the night. When morning came, I wakened free from pain, but extremely weak. A Christian Science nurse had been called and was taking care of me. I improved rapidly, and in about two weeks was able to make the trip to Chicago.

Before we left New York the nurse told my son what the conditions were on that night. She said: "Your mother's healing was the most wonderful demonstration of the power of Truth to heal that I have ever witnessed. When I came about two o'clock in the morning your mother was passing on. I know all the symptoms, having been a medical nurse and later a doctor. Your mother was cold, there was no pulse, and we heard the death rattle. That night I saw death overcome and Life made manifest."
