Healing Atmosphere of Church Services

In the Glossary on page 583 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy gives a wonderful definition of "Church": "The structure of Truth and Love; whatever rests upon and proceeds from divine Principle."

This true meaning of the real Church has awakened in the adherents of Christian Science an eagerness to attend the church services. The Sunday and Wednesday services offer to them a feast of spiritual good. They are very dear to the Christian Scientist and have an important place in his life.

Accounts of stirring reformation are heard in the Wednesday meetings, of fear overcome, hearts comforted, sympathy and good will expressed, joy and abundance demonstrated. Christian Scientists know that they must give their full support to "Church," defined in the second paragraph of the foregoing definition as "that institution, which affords proof of its utility and is found elevating the race, rousing the dormant understanding from material beliefs to the apprehension of spiritual ideas and the demonstration of divine Science, thereby casting out devils, or error, and healing the sick." They know that this church is founded on love for God and man, and brings healing.
