Among the Churches

Current Notes

Logansport, Indiana (First Church).—On Sunday morning, November 3, 1940, the First Reader gave a brief history of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Logansport, at the dedication service which was held there.

The impressive building at Ninth and North Streets was constructed in 1913 and 1914, but in keeping with the rule of Christian Science churches, no dedication service was help until the edifice was fully paid for.

First Church of Christ, Scientist, of Logansport, Indiana, was organized and the charter granted in July, 1898. Services were then held in the Universalist church. Here the first Christian Science Sunday School was opened, and the first Wednesday evening meeting was held. In August, the church moved its church home to 522 East Broadway. The first services were held there on Sunday, September 4. It was here that the first Reading Room was opened. The first lecture on Christian Science in Logansport was delivered in May, 1899.
