Purifying Thought
STUDENTS of Christian Science are grateful that they are learning to think constructively and to realize that thoughts held in consciousness are mirrored forth in their daily lives.
Throughout the ages, men have been striving to maintain health and to be at peace. Through Christian Science, which has been presented to the world by its Discoverer and Founder, Mary Baker Eddy, mankind is learning that thought governs the body; that harmonious, right thinking produces harmonious results; and that as thought becomes purified and spiritualized, the body is freed from bondage to disease.
In her textbook,"Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy makes the statement (p. 208), "A material body only expresses a material and mortal mind," adding: "You embrace your body in your thought, and you should delineate upon it thoughts of health, not of sickness. You should banish all thoughts of disease and sin and of other beliefs included in matter." Thus we see that he who learns to govern his thinking rightly is learning to live harmoniously and is gaining a true sense of health.
