For some time I have been thinking that I should express...
For some time I have been thinking that I should express my gratitude for all that Christian Science has done for me during the past ten years. All the health and happiness I have ever known I owe to Christian Science. No wonder Scientists are grateful for our blessed Master, Christ Jesus, who came to teach us the way to overcome all sin, sickness, and death; and for our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who gave us the Comforter, promised by the Master. I am grateful for The Mother Church in Boston, and for every activity of the Christian Science movement, which is destined to bring healing to a weary, war-torn world. Also I wish to express gratitude for the practitioners who have helped me so lovingly and faithfully, whenever called upon, night or day, and for the dear friends I have made in Science.
I have been healed of constipation of years' standing, of continuous colds each winter, periodic headaches, burns, lack, fear, many unlovely traits of character, and other things too numerous to name. A daughter was healed of a severe illness which was not diagnosed. When I first took up the study of Christian Science I was healed, to a great extent, of grief at the passing of my mother. Later I was privileged to witness a reunion of a broken household, which resulted in a home of peace, plenty, and happiness. I have learned that only God, good, can bring real joy and happiness, and I am able to demonstrate this fact in my own experience. I have witnessed the healing of an abscessed ear. The ear opened and drained as completely as if it had been lanced.
My testimony would not be complete without expressing gratitude for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church. In the latter I have had the great privilege of teaching in the Sunday school, and of serving on one of the literature committees. Last, but not least, I am grateful for the privilege of class instruction, with the yearly blessing of the association meetings. For the joy of seeing all but one member of my immediate family take up the study of Christian Science, I am indeed grateful. My prayer is that I may daily live so as to be worthy of the name Christian Scientist.
