Maumee News

Maumee, Ohio (First Church).—An important stage in the growth of Christian Science in this community was marked on Sunday, April 20, 1941, when First Church of Christ, Scientist, Maumee, Ohio, dedicated its new edifice, with services in the morning, afternoon, and evening.

The First Reader gave a brief historical sketch of the church, which was in part as follows:

Christian Science Society in Maumee was formed on October 10, 1929, and a week later by-laws were adopted and Readers and officers were elected. Services were held in the home of one of the members until November 27, when a room was rented in the building at the corner of Conant and West Wayne Streets. On December 27, 1929, the society became an authorized branch of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts.
